 Business Improvement Process

Context / Scope of project

The client, a multi-national gold miner and processor, wanted to standardise their approach to identifying business improvement opportunities and associated value across multiple sites. PIP was asked to assist their Business Excellence team develop a common process and set of tools, while also providing training in using
these tools.

Client achieved:

At the end of the four-week project, the following outcomes were delivered:

  • Definition of overarching value identification process to identify, evaluate and prioritise opportunities
  • Establishment of supporting materials to assist in
    implementation
  • Buy-in to proposed value identification process by site and business excellence staff
  • Key business excellence team members trained in process and use of tools Immediate adoption of wiring improvements identified during the course of the pilot
  • Identification of improvement initiatives estimated to deliver additional $2.5 million in value through reductions in shift changeover times and tighter management of trucks
